n 2019 teachers and students are hyper focused on the “what” of teaching and learning. What course are you taking? What scores are you achieving? What college will you try to attend? We often impose responsibility upon students at the expense of curiosity and wonder. What is forgotten is the all-important Why? Teachers and students crave purpose for learning content, for numeracy and for literacy. In this session participants will crystallize purpose for their STEM lessons in order to teach and learn with purpose and effectiveness.

Directly following his Keynote presentation, Dr. Robert Corbin will be answering questions of participants as well as taking them through a hands-on activity from Discovery Education's STEM Connect resources. Come join in the conversation and fun with this premier STEM expert!

The 4Cs (Creativity, Communication, Collaboration & Critical Thinking) are soft skills that the majority of today's STEM employees are searching for in applicants along with content proficiency. During this session, you will learn a plethora of Digital/Web 2.0 tools that address the 4C's and tips for effectively using them in your K-12 classrooms! Participants will need a device (i.e. tablet or laptop) to fully engage in session activities.

Dr. Robert Corbin, Discovery Education's STEM expert, will lead you through a typical Discovery Education STEM Connect hands-on experience in our Discovery Education playground.

This hands-on session will offer participants the opportunity to try websites and strategies that enhance Social Studies. These activities will include cross-curricular instruction that incorporates community and self-relevance to instruction. A tablet or laptop is needed for this session. Grades k-8
