Using a Smartphone to Collect Digital Data in the Elementary Science Classroom
The best way elementary students can learn science is to do the things that scientists do and one of the things scientists do the most is collect, analyze, and interpret data! Using a Smartphone and the Sci Journal App, your students can transform their science learning into data-driven experiences where students collect and use quantitative data and qualitative observations to construct explanations and develop understandings of scientific phenomena. In this workshop, we will engage in three data collection activities perfect for grades 3, 4, and 5 that model what your elementary students can and should be doing to learn science. Download the free Sci Journal App and bring your Smartphone!
